The Swedish ResourceCentre organisation originates from the 1980-s and it has grown successively since 1994 when the first National and the Regional Centres were created. Since 1999 NRC is a registered NGO with a rapidly increasing organisation. Today there are 20 Regional and around 150 Local Resource Centres and Networks in Sweden.

The Swedish National Federation of ResourceCentres for women works for a gender equal society where

  • women take their part of the resources in society
  • the competence, experiences and perspectives of women are taken care of
  • the efforts of men and women are equally valued
  • the influence of women on society development is increasing.

Fields of activity
NRC operates in the following areas:

  • common policy, lobbying and financing issues ( primarily public basic means to finance the centres, legitimacy and education concerning women's rights)
  • competence training in various areas, especially gender equality issues, communication and IT,
  • combating social exclusion in the world of work, mentoring and counselling of long-term un-employed, immigrants, long-term sick
  • networking, developing contacts in EU and EU applicant countries
    the formation of public opinion
