Among the applications selected by the expert group of the EU Commission for the eGovernment Conference in Brussels on the 29-30th of November Austria & Germany top the list with 6 applications each, closely followed by Belgium, Italy & Sweden with 5 applications.

European IT report shows widening of EU-USA information technology gap

A report from the European information technology observatory (EITO) indicates that the gap between the USA and Europe in the effective use of the Internet and other information technologies has widened, and may continue to do so. The EITO report analyses data from 1992 to 1998.

Commission moves to bring '.eu' domain name nearer

The European Commission has presented a new revised proposal for regulation of a 'dot eu' top level domain name, incorporating the comments from the European Parliament. This should mean that the registry to operate the name is operational by the beginning of 2002.

New Virtual University in Sweden year 2002
