Between the 19th and the 21st of April ANJAF (National Youth Association for Family Action) organized in Lisbon, transnational training about the development of new strategies for Family Responsible Organization. 20 participants from several European countries (e.g. Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden) took part in this training which is is co-financed by the European Commission Leonardo da Vinci Life Long Learning programme. Lead partner of the project is ANJAF and WINNET is one of the partners.

 Several of the partner cities of the VISP project: Mölndal, Drammen, 223 participants from 13 countries:  Australia, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Greece, Holland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and USA participated in Århus 10.12th of June at the international Networking Library conference that focused on that exact point of elevation that takes quality, relevance and knowledge to a higher level.

Two Swedish Adult Education Organisations visited Kortrijk

Representatives of two Swedish adult education organisations carried out a joint study visit to Brussels and Kortrijk 18 ? 20 April. The 26 participants who took part in the study trip are board members of Rvux, the Swedish Association for Municipal and National Adult Education, with its chairman Ronny Spångberg, and the Adult Education Network in the Göteborg Region Association of Local Authorities, GR, with its chairman Kerstin Littke.

 Several of the partner cities of the VISP project: Mölndal, Drammen, Hamburg-Harburg and Kortrijk have been intensively involved in mapping key criterea for the library of the 21st's century. Inspired by the Oracle of Halmstad one of their conclusions is that libraries  - based on strategic networking - should serve as multifunctional meeting points for business, culture, design, education, innovation, life-long learning, media and based on the local needs any other services.
Visit of a delegation of Sweden to Kortrijk

 On the 19th of April, a large delegation of  30 representatives from the adult education sector in Sweden came on a study trip to Kortrijk. The City of Kortrijk, the Public Centre of Social Welfare and the Library presented the local LLL-results of the VISP project and after some site seeing also local organisations and adult education institutes presented their school and way of working.
Start of the lay of the director's garden

  In March, after the winter stop, the lay of the director's garden of the V-Tex gatebuilding will start.Up to now, the garden has been maintained and cleaned up as it was and used for neighbourhood activities like a summer brunch or the theatre play in open air.

 After the visit to Enschede, the filmcrew arrived in Kortrijk to shoot the necessary film material about the local projects. On the agenda were : visit to the gate building with its various activities ( sport school, circus school, interview with the theatre association, recording of the CD of the L'Orchestre International du Vetex ), shooting at the business centre and the recording of the statement of the Mayor and some explanation about the project of the new library.

                        Some members of the steering group New Library On the 9th of March 2004, a work group New Library with external experts and key players of the city administration has got the assignment to investigate a desirable concept for the New Library in Kortrijk. This resulted in 2005 in two vision texts about the funtion of the library and decisions on the concept of the library, the decentralised structure and work, the role as provider of educational services, automation, competence management, location and building program.

    The City of Mölndal participates together with partners from four countries in an Equal project  aimed at creating better conditions for older people to enter or re-enter work life.   The goals are to be achieved by: - developing a method that fully describes the older person’s Life Competence, including the person's life situation, work, spare time, family situation, physical and phsycologocial conditions, knowledge, abilities, skills, experiences, motivational factors and values.

'By 2010 the European Union will have been transformed into the world's most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economy with the capacity for sustained economic growth with more and better job opportunities and a higher degree of social inclusion.'

The basic aim of the VISP project is

to create a new European model for a modern urban infrastructure where lifelong learning is integrated with other civic functions for sustainable, polycentric development - vitalizing city centres.

  • Guarantee universal and continuing access to learning
    for sustained participation in the knowledge society
  • Visibly raise levels of investment in human resources
    Develop effective teaching and learning methods
  • Provide lifelong learning opportunities as close to learners
    as possible, in their own communities and supported through ICT-based facilities wherever appropriate.'
